About Cory M. Thornton

Cory M. Thornton, a transfer student and a Music Education/Voice Major and Spanish Language and Culture Minor at Jacksonville University by way of Jacksonville, FL. Cory is an honor student who has made the Honor Roll and Dean's List multiple semesters. Cory has a passion for expressing himself musically through the performing arts and he has a passion for learning foreign language and foreign culture. Cory is a proud roaring tiger of Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL. Since he began his journey at the only historically black college and university in South Florida, Florida Memorial University, he became a member of the ground breaking Epsilon Mu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., as well as a member of the HIV/AIDS awareness organization, Respect Yourself, Check Yourself, Protect Yourself (The RCP Movement), and he also chartered the FMU Chapter of The RCP Movement in 2010. Aside from that he is the managing editor for the FMU Roar Publication. A publication that showcases campus life at Florida Memorial. Additionally, he is an active member of the FMU Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), UNCF’s Pre-Alumni Council, the Alpha Lambda Gamma Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, I Eta Pi Service Organization, Florida Memorial University's National Pan Hellenic Council, Student Support Services, the Florida Memorial University Pop Ensemble and he sings bass/baritone in the Florida Memorial University Ambassador Chorale and Florida Memorial University Chamber Ensemble. Post graduation he plans to attend graduate school where he will obtain his Master’s and Doctoral Degree in Music Business Administration. Post graduate school he plans to start his own record label where he will work as a professional music, marketing and A&R executive as well as a prominent recording artist, singer and songwriter.
