About Cory Nelson, P.E.

I received my BSME from FSU with a Thermal Fluids track. My senior design project was to develop a thermal energy storage system to provide heat to power an ORC generator during peak utility rate hours. Once I graduated, our senior design sponsor, Ron Conry at Verdicorp Inc, hired me to continue R&D. Small prototypes were made utilizing PCMs, however my role soon changed to ORC System Commissioning Engineer. The ORC system utilized a magnetically levitated shaft and turbine which were spun using super heated refrigerant. These units were installed on processing plants with excess heat to provide auxiliary power, roughly 115kW each. The two installation locations I was involved in were wood chip burning facilities in San Nicola, Italy. Entrepreneurial struggles hit Verdicorp and I was lucky to find security at H2Engineering Inc. The MEP industry thus far has been full of endless opportunities for growth and continued education. As an entry level Mechanical Engineer is was tasked with HVAC load calculations, Fire hydrostatic calculations, Plumbing supply fixture unit calculations and pipe sizing as well as many others. Having had a few years of experience now I am grateful to H2 and the amazing staff for the guidance and look forward to continuing my career in the MEP industry.
