Provide strategic and operational leadership of Nebraska Medical Center, a 700 bed Level 1 trauma center, the NCI designated Buffet Cancer Center and Werner Cancer Hospital, 100 bed Bellevue Medical Center, a regional network of 70 provider-based health centers and an 800-member medical group affiliated with UNMC College of Medicine. Annually the health system provides care to 33,000 patients requiring hospital care and over 1,000,000 patients in our clinics, treatment and diagnostic centers. Partner with colleagues, faculty and leaders from UNMC Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Allied Professions to ensure our clinical operation provides sustainable, high quality, highly satisfying care while ensuring optimal experiences for health sciences students and supports clinical research in all settings.

Create and execute strategies for health system and signature clinical programs. Partnered with physician executive to lead signature service lines for region’s premier academic health system including cancer, transplant/gastroenterology, cardiovascular, primary care, neurosciences, orthopedics, women’s health, and behavioral health. Set and ensure achievement of milestones for sustainable growth, quality, patient experience, financial performance, student experience and clinical research growth. Establish strategic partnerships with community-based providers, industry and community service organizations to drive growth and address community need.

Responsible for all operational aspects of a 700+ member academic physician group practice including strategy setting, ambulatory operations, revenue cycle, compliance, human resources, finance, and information technology. Ambulatory operations generated over 800,000 visits annually and $250 million in annual revenue. Key accomplishments include overseeing a 500% growth in organizational revenue, design and successful implementation of new physician compensation plan, negotiation of multiple affiliation agreements strengthening the enterprise and leading the design and execution of a strategy to form Nebraska Medicine, an integrated delivery system consisting of UNMC Physicians, Nebraska Medical Center and Bellevue Medical Center.

Responsibility included integration of managed care and risk contracting strategies for two merging health systems through leadership of Nebraska Health Partners; a managed care service organization which provides contracting/contract management, provider relations, and clinical resource management support to all components of the health system. Key accomplishments include alignment of 180+ contractual relationships that generate $600 million in annual revenues for 800-bed hospital system and 1000+ academic and private physicians, integration of risk-sharing models including capitation, and leading the development of clinical resource management strategies for the health system.
