My role is to support the objectives of the Evidence, Insights and Innovation team to ensure that EECA’s programmes are based on robust evidence and insights, and that EECA maintains its position as the authority on energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy.I assist with the delivery of a range of workstreams within the team and wider organisation, including:- Energy systems modelling using the International Energy Agency's TIMES model- Data capture, warehousing, visualisations, and analysis- Energy efficiency and decarbonisation of industrial process heat- Energy efficient buildings and homes- Research and energy transition thought leadership

I worked on a range of projects across multiple teams, assisting with the design and delivery of EECA’s co-funding programmes to help individuals and businesses reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. This involved:- Communicating and engaging with a variety of staff such as engineers, data scientists, researchers, lawyers, and economists, as well as external contractors. Through this, I have developed a general knowledge of the energy industry and decarbonisation principles, technologies, and mechanisms, especially for industrial process heat.- Working collaboratively and independently to research and synthesise technical information and data, presenting results through written, visual, and oral formats. For one project, I extracted and analysed data and key insights from stationary energy decarbonisation opportunity reports for individual organisations within a sector. I then synthesised this information to construct a full transition pathway for the sector, considering common decarbonisation technologies and strategies, as well as barriers and challenges.- Another project required the use of mathematical modelling software to assess heat pump performance data against the NZ Healthy Homes standard. My team used this to derive an optimal methodology to size heat pumps correctly for installation in residential homes.
