Throughout the five years, I held a couple of different positions within Claims. Started off as a Benefit Specialist contractor in the Long Term Care Claims department to review clients’ claims and determine their eligibility for Long Term Care insurance benefits. In 2012, I assisted with "train the trainer" for the trainers going to Manila, Philippines to open our first offshore office. Since then, I gradually became more involved with the offshore office and ultimately became their primary point of contact for policy and processing questions. I also managed individual and team performance and collaborated with the off shore management to coordinate on best practices.In addition to working with the offshore office, I specialized in resolving complex, escalated policyholder issues and complaints. For many of these cases, the root cause was a system issue and I worked with IT to analyze and determine the resolution. Through several of these cases, I was able to identify various areas for process improvement. This work was the catalyst for management to move me to the Service Process Improvement Team, where I continued to identify opportunities for the business unit and was involved in many different initiatives. I met with a team to brainstorm how to implement change, discuss any potential risks, run pilot programs, and train and document changes.
