As a medical student at Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU), I aspire to become a physician who can provide compassionate, competent, and comprehensive care to my patients. I am particularly interested in emergency medicine, as I have gained valuable clinical skills and experience as an emergency department technician at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for four years, where I performed phlebotomy, EKG, and basic life support procedures, and assisted physicians and nurses in delivering urgent care to patients.In addition to my clinical skills, I have a strong foundation in public health, which I acquired from my bachelor's degree in public health from California State University, Northridge, and my master's degree in medical sciences from WesternU. I have learned how to apply the principles and practices of preventive medicine and health promotion in my community service activities, such as volunteering at health fairs and mentoring underrepresented students. I have also received multiple scholarships for my academic performance, community service, and career goals, such as the East West Scholarship, the Ujima Scholarship, and the Coalition of Black Men Physicians X LA Care Health Plan Scholarship. These awards have motivated me to continue working hard and giving back to my community, especially those who are medically underserved or underrepresented. I am confident that my education, experience, and competencies will enable me to become a physician who can make a positive difference in the health and well-being of others.
