About Cory Allen
Cory Allen is a cinematographer and creative technologist specializing in volumetric and immersive video. After graduating from the School of Visual Arts and working for years in film and television production, Cory was introduced to volumetric video while working on Scatter’s documentary “Blackout”, a VR experience where viewers roam freely through a New York City subway car and listen in on the thoughts of a diverse crowd of real everyday riders. An official selection at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, "Blackout" invited participants to not only take a virtual ride on the subway train, but get captured on site and add their recordings to the experience. Following "Blackout", Cory went on to film "Queerskins: a love story", a short volumetric narrative set among a grieving couple through rural Missouri, "Made This Way: Redefining Masculinity", a documentary featuring the testimonials and works of transgender artists, and WaveXR’s Imogen Heap concert, a hyper-real yet intimate concert performance from the Grammy-winning electronic musician. Since joining the team at Scatter, he has also produced the Emmy-nominated VR experience “The Changing Same” and the on-site installation “Tales in the Holoverse”.
