Responsible for drafting and negotiating various agreements in the field of music, film, and television, including producer agreements, publishing agreements, recording agreements, engineering agreements, mixing agreements, side artist agreements, and television option/purchase agreements; music publishing administration, including royalty analysis and collection, procuring exploitation opportunities, negotiating the licensing of synchronization rights, copyright administration, liaising with performing rights organizations; budget coordination; A&R, including client acquisition and artist development; artist management, including coordinating recording sessions, coordinating live performances, facilitating introductions between artists and key industry executives, coordinating publicity opportunities, image development; trademark prosecution.

For three years I directed a documentary team in the filming of artist interviews; conducted interviews with performing artists such as Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Wayne Coyne (The Flaming Lips), John Bell (Widespread Panic), Washed Out, Patrick Hallahan (My Morning Jacket), Cake, Modern English, among many others, as well as environmental activist figures Christopher Childs and Rob Coughlin.

Contributor to a number of additional publications including CMJ.com, DiscoSalt.com, and having images featured on the cover of Paste Magazine, on RollingStone.com, Grammy.com and in Outside Magazine.

Co-founded BackseatSandbar.com with a focus on catering to indie rock audiences in the Southeast region with a monthly readership in excess of 35,000 visitors per month and press references in The Guardian, the New Yorker, and New York Magazine; concert booking, including Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, Strfkr, and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. Voted “Best Local Arts Blog,” “Best Local News Blog,” and “Best Entertainment Blog” in the Louisville Eccentric Observer’s “Reader’s Choice Awards” 2008-2010.

Registered patent attorney. Achievements included a number of issued patents and trademarks. Responsibilities included transactional prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyrights, with a focus in electro-mechanical and software based technologies, including but not limited to drafting provisional and/or full utility applications, responding to office actions, filing continuations and divisions, filing information disclosure statements, researching prior art, filing reexaminations, and filing fee transmittals; patent litigation support; providing advice and counsel with respect to patents, trademarks and copyrights, including but not limited to issues of patentability and marketability; drafting licenses of technology, marks, and copyrights; providing advice and counsel with respect to federal contest law and website terms and conditions; creation of corporate entities.

Responsibilities included patent and trademark prosecution; drafting licenses of intellectual properties and franchises; drafting and negotiating lease agreements with domestic and international franchisees.

Responsibilities included litigation support, including preparation of interrogatories, requests for admission, and the preparation of motions to be filed with the court in civil and criminal suits at all levels of the state system, from the district court to the Kentucky Supreme Court.

In December 2003, I moved to London for my gap year. During this time, I became an admissions officer, working with various professors to coordinate interviews and issue offers, conditional offers pending obtaining requisite A-levels, and rejections. Additionally, I worked with incoming students to aid them in the application process. In June I left work to backpack for 2 weeks before moving back to the US to begin law school.
