About Cory Hunt
Cory Hunt is a Senior Client Engineer at The Pokémon Company International. He possess expertise in programming, game design, c++, game development, artificial intelligence and 23 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Cory was the glue that held the company uGen together. There’s really no other way to describe him. A genuine leader with modesty, humility, and expertise in every level of game production. He was fearless in acknowledging when there were gaps in his understanding of a problem. He was also not afraid to learn from other senior teammates, and those he managed, to better his knowledge of game development pipeline intricacies. He trusted each of us to do our part and managed through inspiration rather than excessive supervision like lesser managers would have. The number of hats he wore at uGen was truly astonishing. From lead client engineer, where he drove the design of the architecture of the entirety of our game, to being the liaison for the less glamorous business & analytics side of game development, Cory was a warehouse of creativity, problem solving, artistic integrity, technical know-how, and immense work ethic. He made everybody feel important no matter how compartmentalized their position was from the larger machinations of uGen’s roadmap. In times of great duress, he was the eye of the storm, calm and focused. When we needed someone to guide us in times of uncertainty, Cory not only brought us to safe waters, he sheltered us with kindness and understanding. I would call him a superb ECR (Empathetic Conflict Resolution) manager. He always reminded everybody on the team, especially during the pandemic of 2020, that they were valuable and of irreplaceable worth to their teammates. His humor and compassionate attitude towards life is really what makes him a true leader at the end of the day. He showed everybody, by example, how to be an exceptional human being. I’m thankful I had the opportunity to work with him, but more-so that I got to really know and befriend such a massive talent. He reminded us why automation will never fully remove the human element in business. People are the ones who make the company and breathe life into the final product. Not the other way around. The team at uGen would not have existed for as long as we did if it were not for Cory. In the minds of all of us at the now closed uGen studio, we are eternally grateful. Anybody looking for a patient & wise leader or someone with the knowledge of an entire game studio in their head, look no further than Cory." and "Cory is the most dedicated and conscientious engineer I've ever had the pleasure of working with. He's incredibly smart, very creative, and has a great sense of humor. He's an avid gamer, and can give you real life examples of how nearly any feature or concept will play out based on other games he's played. He's a team player, and a terrific manager/lead. He's honest, and truly cares about his team and the product. I have personally turned to him for advice on several different matters, both professional and personal. If I'm ever hiring again, Cory will be the first person I call."
