The Director of Residence Life is grounded in an ethic of service that appreciates multiple perspectives, creates opportunities that are affirming and empowering to all, and responds to the need of diverse communities. I live on-campus all year and implement the strategic direction of the Residence Life program at Rose-Hulman. I direct, train, and supervise Resident Assistants and the Assistant/Associate Director of Residence Life. My responsibilities include coordination of student housing, advancing student learning, leadership, and citizenship through the Residence Life program to prepare students for lives of active community engagement. I also serve in an on-call duty coverage rotation and respond to student needs and on-campus incidents.

As one of the Assistant Directors of Residence Life, I work closely with the Sophomore Advisor staff within the residence halls. I serve on an after hours on-call emergency response team with three of my colleagues. One of my primary team responsibilities within the Office of Student Affairs is coordinating housing assignments for all students on campus and managing all housing-related items throughout the academic year. I am also the Co-Advisor for the Residence Hall Association. My goal is to help provide the best living experience for all students in the residence halls and contribute to the overall growth and development of each individual student at Rose-Hulman.

As a Residence Life Coordinator, I am responsible for creating a living and learning environment in the residence halls, enhancing academics, and improving retention initiatives. I supervise, train, evaluate, and provide leadership for student resident assistants. My responsibilities also include ensuring that residence hall safety and security procedures are established and maintained while serving on an on-call crisis response team. While serving as an adviser for the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity and for the McNair Hall Association, I strive to promote the inclusion of all students in both academic and professional growth opportunities.

As a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Affairs, I am expected to aid in fostering a cooperative relationship between students, staff members, and faculty members across the Rose-Hulman campus community. I also assist and help the Learning Center coordinate the Sophomore Resident Tutor program in Percopo Hall and Lakeside Hall. Another responsibility includes assisting and providing educational and leadership development programs to the Residence Life Staff.

I held a responsibility for maintaining a healthy learning atmosphere for a floor of 60 residents while getting to personally know each member of the floor. I acted as a role-model and personal counseling mentor for these students. I was accountable for the enforcement of Rose-Hulman rules and regulations when necessary. I also arranged social and philanthropic hall activities and programs to complement the educational growth of the students.

The mission of Rose-Hulman's Residence Hall association (RHA) is "to promote and improve the residence hall community.” RHA is one of the largest organizations on campus and provides students with various events and activities. As president, I oversee all projects and events for the five major committees such as On-Campus, Off-Campus, Service, Publicity, and National Communications. RHA provides students the opportunity to get involved and make a difference on campus and with the local community.

As the Research and Development summer intern, I held several major responsibilities related to project management, design, and quality improvement. I was tasked with designing a functional endocavity probe disinfectant soaking station and documenting all progress throughout the design process in a preliminary design document. Another responsibility included developing work instructions for four ultrasound probes in order to establish an efficient working procedure. This internship provided me the opportunity to oversee all project management responsibilities for the GE RIC5-9H ultrasound cable assemblies from the initial planning stage to the pre-production parts testing stage. I gained experience interacting with suppliers, providing complete reverse engineered CAD drawings, and implementing quality improvements in the workplace.

This opportunity taught me efficient approaches to carry out GMP-compliant processes in order to receive FDA approval for pharmaceutical testing in a laboratory setting. Also, I learned to work quickly and proficiently while performing a various laboratory exercises such as titrations, blend uniformity tests, and pill inspections in the Research and Development laboratory.
