In the Academy, high-performing students and students in search of a unique education experience thrive with a personalized curriculum and specially trained teachers as they prepare to apply and attend selective colleges or universities.It is the Dean's responsibility to oversee all program operations, including, faculty hiring and training, budgeting, marketing, curriculum development, and the student learning experience for the entirety of the Academy program. Through ongoing feedback, I lead the professional development team that coaches our teachers on best practices with gifted and ambitious learners. Utilizing a passion for data analysis, I work with the curriculum department and course creators to ensure student assessments are valuable and authentic. Through feedback from parents and students, I evaluate and continuously develop our program offerings. As Dean of Academy, I collaborate with all Academic Departments to ensure consistency, clear communication, and a sharing of ideas across and within all levels and subject matters within the school. Together with the School Executive Leadership team, I spearhead innovative academic and social programming. We collaborate on initiatives around increasing enrollment, retention, student engagement, and gathering data as evidence for student learning outcomes. The Academy also pilots innovative programs, integrating technology seamlessly into the pedagogy, while providing both synchronous and asynchronous opportunities for learning and engagement. An essential function of the Dean of Academy includes working across departments (ie. Marketing, Admissions, Public Relations, School Counseling, and with our parent organization at large) to ensure the message of what we do in the Academy and how we serve students is communicated effectively to all stakeholders. I facilitate online courses about social media and online teaching to teachers in the state of Idaho. I specialize in training others how to teach online and use emerging technologies in their practice. In addition, I have developed a number of courses and workshops for IDLA in the past.
