About Cory Schmid, Mba
I am an experienced software developer with experience on the IBM Mainframe using COBOL, as well as in various non mainframe environments using C++, C#, and Java. I am looking to harness my years of experience to bring value to a development team and product I can be proud of. I hope to be able to work to expand my technical toolbox while using my leadership and past experiences to coach others. I current manage the estimate intake channel for the FIS TrustDesk and CashManager products which supports hundreds of client institutions with hundreds of thousands of end clients. In this role I work to translate client requests into high level technical designs and estimates to deliver on those designs. For Items that are then approved for funding, I am also part of a small pool of developers that will work through the resulting projects and deliver the client functionality. In addition to this intake role, I am also the subject matter expert on our system for a significant number of sub-features and processes which I also support as part of a rotating oncall team. I assist my current manager by interfacing with numerous other FIS products and teams to assist with integrations with them. I also regularly interact with clients and vendors external to FIS, in my day to day development and support.I have been recognized countless times within my current role by fellow colleagues using the colleague recognition tool offered by my current employer and have received an 'Exceeds' performance rating during annual performance reviews in most of the last few years.In 2012 I decided to leave my position at FIS TrustDesk due to a perceived limit to my upward mobility in my position. Following my departure, I was approached 5 separate times in the 2.5 years that followed by numerous managers making offers for my return to FIS. Finally after being offered a number of items I was looking for as well as are clear career path, I returned to FIS.I was sought out by past colleagues to take a job as an Adjunct Instructor at a local technical college where I taught an Introductory level programming courses using C# for 4.5 years.I am looking to expand on my leadership and management skills by utilizing the knowledge gained thru both of my undergraduate degree(s), my MBA, my experience as an Adjunct Instructor and my years in the development field.My ideal position balances being in the technology but also allows me to utilize my people skills by representing the business in interactions with clients, vendors and others within the organization.

Programmer Analyst Specialist
As a programmer analyst specialist I spend much of my time designing and documenting solutions to our clients desired upgrades, regulatory upgrades, and company mandated changes. Often these documented designs are then passed to a highly skilled offshore teams for implementation. On completion of the work offshore, I review the software and test results and coordinate installation activities with the offshore team.I am also very active in estimating enhancements on our clients and vendors "Wish List" to assist clients, vendors, and our business executives decisions on when proceeding with a project makes sense. In this role I often interact with both clients and vendors.I am also responsible for rotating oncall shifts to support our applications which include some 24x7 applications and others which are daytime online, and nighly batch related. This support includes highly complex processing in the wealth management industry. My support role is primarily with the Mainframe COBOL and CICS, as well as Batch/JCL related processing.

We make and sell Maple Syrup, have and manage bee hives on several properties, harvest and sell honey that results from the beehives, and have recently added a number of egg laying chickens adding to our offering by selling eggs. We also sell firewood, and have built a number of woodworking projects for several people. This is really just a way to monetize several hobbies in a way that can benefit my family.
