I joined the Durham, North Carolina Police Department in January of 2012. Upon completion of the police academy, I spent five years on uniform patrol. During my time on uniform patrol, I focused on motor vehicle enforcement to include investigating Driving While Impaired incidents. I received 17 commendations from the Durham County District Attorneys Office for DWI investigations I handled and was also named officer of the month in 2017. During my time on uniform patrol, I was a member of the Durham Police Department's Body Warn Camera Review Committee for testing and implementing body warn cameras to the department. In July 2018, I was promoted to investigator and worked on the department's Gang Unit. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the unit as it presented plenty of challenges for myself and teammates. While on the unit I was given the opportunity to work with officers and agents from different local, state and federal partners which allowed me to grow overall into a well rounded individual.I was promoted to Corporal in August 2020 and assigned to uniform patrol. As a supervisor I have taken on a new role of teaching and inspiring new officers to better themselves while having positive contacts with the community. Best part about my current role as a supervisor is that I learn something new everyday while being able to pass that knowledge along to the officers I work with.I am currently a Sergeant in the Uniform Patrol Bureau and currently hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree from West Virginia University in Criminology and Investigations and currently possess an Advanced Law Enforcement Certification from the state of North Carolina.
