I am a seasoned manager and a highly skilled technical expert with over 30 years of experience in the development and scale-up of innovative industrial initiatives in the fields of cardiovascular medical devices, obesity management, and collagen-based tissue engineering. Currently, I hold the position of General Manager and Senior Vice President of Manufacturing at Gelesis Srl, an Italian-based biotechnology company.My journey began with a school qualification in Chemical and Industrial Technologies, after which I started my professional career at DiaSorin S.p.a, the largest Italian producer of cardiovascular devices. There, I led a project focused on the development and industrialization of polyester vascular prostheses for artery repair and replacement. After approximately five years dedicated to research and process scale-up for vascular prosthesis production, along with the establishment of a new production site, I was appointed as the Technical Director and Site Manager, overseeing a team of 35 individuals.In 2010, I founded a company specializing in collagen extraction from different animal sources and the production of "collagen-based" medical devices for regenerative medicine and reconstructive surgery. Currently, I hold the position of partner and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors in this venture.SInce 2011 at Gelesis Srl, I have played a pivotal role in steering the company from the conceptual stage in the laboratory to a global-scale industrial production. I have overseen all aspects of process scaling and the establishment of the entire organizational structure. My hands-on approach extends to process engineering, production facility setup, and the meticulous recruitment and training of key personnel.
