The Resident Assistant (RA) is a student leader who oversees a floor or wing of around 38-42 residents in a campus residence hall and assists the 180-200 residents in the residents hall. The RA is responsible for facilitating a supportive, inclusive, and engaged residential community through programming, helping residents connect to campus resources, providing peer counseling, upholding community standards, and serving on duty shifts.Key Responsibilities:Plan, promote, and facilitate events and programs for residents that support social bonding, student success, connections across difference, self-care, and community standardsServe as first point of contact for residents for questions, concerns, conflicts, or crises and refer cases appropriatelyComplete administrative tasks to support safety and community standards such as incident reports, room checks, etc.Serve on duty rotation for the hall, available by phone and making rounds to respond to incidents and resident needsEnforce university and residential policies and protocolsAssist residents in their academic achievement, social growth, understanding of self and appreciation of differencesAttend ongoing trainings and staff meetingsQualifications:Current student at the university in good academic standingUnderstanding of residential community needs and support resourcesStrong communication, interpersonal, and conflict management skillsResponsible, empathetic, and able to maintain confidentialityFlexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
