• Review, process Grand Jury, Federal Administrative subpoenas and search warrants; decode multiple legal confidential requests for records. Determine if EDD can release information in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. Research relevant state and federal laws, including the Unemployment Insurance Code, to address specific issues and provide recommendations on handling requests for confidential information.• Handle inquiries from attorneys, federal agents, copy services, and the public regarding the release of confidential information through telephone calls, emails, and letters.• Organize and equip a qualified EDD representative to appear in state, federal, and small claims, state and federal court. Collect necessary paperwork, create declarations, and prepare responsive motions for filing in small claims court cases.• Support the Office of Attorney General by drafting a referral letter requesting representation at hearings, providing information, answering Deputy Attorney General questions, and preparing declarations related to Motions to Quash or Opposing Motions to Compel disclosure of confidential information. Assist attorney in drafting Motion to Quash template for Harbor Longshoreman Subpoenas.• Utilizes manual and computerized systems for managing litigation information and tracking discovery documents. In addition, to opening and filing personnel matters with the CA State Personnel Board. • Participate in complex discussions of confidential information team meetings, and other duties accept subpoenas.
