After dedicating 20 years to Chinese medicine, I'm embarking on a career transition to broaden my skill set. Currently, I'm focusing on honing my expertise in information security to become a more well-rounded professional.My background in Chinese medicine, administering acupuncture, and working at heights as a window cleaner, instilled in me a paramount concern for human health and safety. This experience also cultivated my adaptability and meticulous attention to detail. Moreover, my tenure in Chinese medicine enhanced my communication skills, enabling me to adeptly convey intricate concepts in simple terms.I began my academic journey by completing two years of prerequisites at Vancouver Island University before enrolling at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM). Over the course of five years at CCAOM, I studied various topics like biomedical ethics and pathopharmacology; the program also included a clinical internship. Subsequently, I pursued further practical experience at the Chengdu University of Chinese Medicine Hospital in China where I engaged in a six-month internship. During this period, I treated hospitalized patients exclusively using acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, with the hospital catering to approximately 4,000 outpatients daily. Each morning, my team and I saw around 70 patients in a span of three hours.Following the completion of my internships, I obtained a Doctor of Chinese Medicine Diploma and became a licensed Registered Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine in British Columbia, Canada. For nearly three years, I served as an acupuncturist aboard cruise ships, where I managed marketing initiatives, achieved sales targets averaging $9,000 USD per cruise, maintained financial records using Excel spreadsheets, and conducted public speaking engagements onboard. Upon encountering a job opportunity in Kelowna, BC while docked in Tahiti, I transitioned to practicing in that area. However, the onset of the pandemic severely limited my work opportunities, prompting my decision to retire from my Chinese medicine practice.I returned to window cleaning and concurrently began delving into the realm of cybersecurity through self-study.
