I love promoting solutions to make people's lives (and work!) easier, more efficient, and more effective. I don't always love selling myself. So here are five quick things about me. In and out, no one gets hurt. 😉1. I come from a low-socioeconomic status, single-parent household. My father dropped out of high school at 16; I dropped out three months before the end of my senior year. I earned my GED a few weeks later, moved to a different state, and worked at Walmart unloading trucks. Even though no one in my family ever went to college, I was determined to change the trajectory of my life. Now, I'm a proud recipient of a B.A. and M.Ed.2. When I was eight, my mom died from post-surgery complications. Consequently, I learned early on to value kindness, patience, and love. I try to smile as much as possible and bring joy everywhere I go. I like to work hard and have fun doing it.3. I worked in higher education for ~9 years. No, not as an instructor (though I did teach a few classes over the years). I worked in Student Affairs, specifically residence life and housing. I developed general skills like managing conflicts (October is unofficial, "I hate my roommate month"), prioritizing tasks (juggling expense reports while supporting students in crisis), and building a team. I also ran a programmatic assessment cycle, developing and analyzing the data that helped our operation make informed decisions.4. While working in higher education, I taught myself how to leverage Power BI and much of the Microsoft Power Platform to make a unique solution for my office's data. More importantly, I created reports that helped tell the story of our work and to provide real-time, visual insights that helped us make data-informed, strategic decisions. I am a storyteller!5. I like helping folks solve problems. I currently work with exceptional professionals leveraging technology to run their residential communities. When I can help connect a customer to a solution that makes their lives easier and helps their operation be more efficient and effective, I know I'm doing good work.
