Assesses, protects, and restore native plants and habitats on District preserves in Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz Counties. Typical project work includes vegetation surveys, biological monitoring, identification and protection of rare plants, control of invasive plants, monitoring vegetation change, designing revegetation sites, installing plants, environmental impact analysis, and applying for permits to resource agencies. This position supervises staff biologists and directs consultants, contractors, and volunteers to assist in completing this work. Supervisory and administrative tasks include budgeting, project management, setting priorities, and providing guidance to multi-disciplinary teams.

Work in the Natural Resources Department at the District’s offices. Core duties included protection o f rare plants and animals, clean water, healthy soil, cultural resources, and restoration of natural habitats. This position coordinates closely with other District staff in the maintenance of trails and associated facilities and managing many buildings in rural and urban environments.
