Chair Of The Board Of Trustees
CurrentThe National Foundation for Retired Service Animals is a non-profit organisation that supports retired animals from our emergency services in their retirement by helping their owners with medical and veterinary costs.Police dogs and horses, fire investigation dogs, and prison dogs do not get a pension at the end of their careers, and due to the nature of their work, it is impossible to obtain meaningful insurance. Most handlers do not want to give up their work partners of 8 years+, and while police horses can go to The Horses Trust or new homes if younger, dogs are much more a part of their families. It is unthinkable that, just because of medical bills, a dog may have to be re-homed, so The NFRSA will be on hand to help alleviate that financial pressure. The website www.nfrsa.org.uk has more details. Please get involved by sending a donation, or holding a fund-raising event for The NFRSA.
