Assisted Kendra Hutchins in sowing, transplanting, and evaluating floricultural crops from a variety of suppliers, including PanAmerican Seed, Ball Ingenuity and several others.Worked closely with Dr. Bill Miller to collect and analyze data on effects of ethylene on a variety of tulip bulbs as well as the interactions between certain plant pathogens including Fusarium oxysporum.

At Eden Green Technology I temporarily filled an assistant grower position. This role allowed me to share what I’ve learned at Cornell with other team members while gaining hands-on experience in the greenhouse.I was asked to create and implement a new fertilizer program. To do this I calculated fertilizer recipes for the concentrated stock tanks and communicated with regional venders to insure the availability of the fertilizers I selected. I was also responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases and, nutrient deficiencies, creating a scouting plan and working closely with the IPM team, repairing irrigation systems, predicting plant physiology and growth responses, and to appropriately manipulating environmental factors with HortiMax to affect plant growth, including heating, cooling, lighting, and humidity demands.

Assisted Professor Peck in addressing new concepts to produce fruit trees sustainability and profitability.Worked closely with graduate students on a variety of research projects including, soil ecology in high-density apple orchards, production of hard cider and other value-added products, and sustainable management practices and systems.Harvested and processed apples using destructive testing such as the starch iodine test. Executed various laboratory analyses following standard operating procedures including PGRU, DNA extraction and analysis. Maintain applicable safety and compliance standards.
