Head Of Production

Production Coordinator

Sydney, Australia

During my time at Animal Logic, I have worked on a multitude of different shows and across many departments. Since starting in 2016, I have worked in every department within the Sydney based VFX/Animation studio as a Production Coordinator. I have a thorough working knowledge of the CG pipeline and often help train new and existing production staff in processes and protocols, making sure that my peers feel as though they can work efficiently and with confidence on any given show. I pride myself in knowing that if someone in production has a question, they can always feel comfortable approaching me for help. More recently, I began holding weekly Coordinator workshops for anyone who wished to gain a more well rounded understanding of the tools and workflows within the studio.I work closely with Managers and Producers to ensure deadlines are met, and that any issues (both production/resource wise and technical) are dealt with in an efficient manner. My passion for film and drive to understand all aspects of the VFX pipeline mean that I am often relied upon for obscure challenges that are not necessarily assigned within the traditional description of a member of production staff, but this has become my defining feature. My time spent at Animal Logic has seen me work as part of a much larger production team, as well as on smaller projects. I can easily take on more responsibility when required and have demonstrated great communication skills across a range of crafts.

Sep 2016 - Nov 2019

Production Coordinator

Melbourne, Australia

Throughout my time as Production Coordinator at Iloura Film, I faced many new challenges. My first two projects, The Boy and Childhood’s End, were two very different productions where I coordinated two teams of roughly 40-50 artists respectively under the supervision of my Production Manager. I single handedly coordinated the assets, match move, lighting and comp departments for the duration of each project.Challenges on The Boy and Childhood’s End- Working as the sole Production Coordinator on multiple projects in a short amount of time- Coordinating up to 40/50 artists on two projects with different requirements and different dynamics

Jul 2015 - Aug 2016

Production Assistant/ Render And Data Wrangler

Melbourne Area, Australia

Transitioning from Render Wrangler to Production Assistant meant that I had a solid understanding of the pipeline and render farm at Iloura, which proved vital to my work and complimented tasks I undertook in my new role.I was brought on as a Production Assistant to aid the production team with a number of tasks, including Client uploads, audits, processing incoming and outgoing data, chasing artists to ensure they met deadlines, and liaising with Production Coordinators and my Manager to make sure we hit our targets and met deadlines each week.I took on more Data Wrangling and mixed it with my assistant work by taking over a variety of client uploads, which provided me with the knowledge to undertake an upload from start to finish. I was given the task of uploading deliveries regularly as one of my main roles, on top of multiple tasks that ranged from the beginning of the pipeline to the end. I attended reviews and entered notes into Iloura's systems, and was able to then make sure all artists involved had the information they needed to continue working on their shots in the time frames provided. I also took over the turnover of assets from client and was required to input them in Iloura's network, set up all the required data, and hand over necessary tasks to other artists further along in the pipeline. This, paired with my work handling deliveries, meant that I developed an in depth understanding of the entire VFX pipeline at Iloura.During a brief period in which our studio was in between VFX Editors, I aided the production team by preparing quicktimes, cutting in latest versions, and exporting data for dailies and deliveries through Avid, to which I have a solid understanding of. I then aided the TVC department at Method with their deliveries for The Spongebob Movie, a project which I undertook as the sole Production Team within Iloura. I cut versions into Avid, exported plates and quicktimes, input shot data into Shotgun, and handled uploads to clients.

Nov 2014 - Jun 2015

Render/Data Wrangler

Melbourne, Australia

As the sole Render Wrangler at Iloura it was my job to oversee the farm and monitor jobs and machines to ensure projects were rendering efficiently. I built tools to aid myself and artists in monitoring their jobs, as well as keeping documentation to help any future wranglers learn the responsibilities of the position. I worked alongside IT, Systems Administration, the Production Team, and Artists to make sure that their needs were catered for on the farm and that priority shots were completed overnight for next day deliveries. Differing from my previous job, I was placed in a Windows based system, and used my knowledge of the system to aid my scripting and tool building to implement processes that benefited the farm and the studio. As part of my role as a Data Wrangler, I QC'd plates as they came in and helped input them into our system for use further along in the pipeline. I also had a large hand at the end of the pipeline in helping the studio deliver footage for conversion to stereo. This required a knowledge of Nuke and a process carried out for each and every shot on the project before the data was uploaded and sent out. I also helped with uploads and ensuring plates were correct and updated them if need be.During my time in this role when my main responsibilities weren't as busy, I helped Production by chasing artists to make sure they were meeting deadlines, and incorporated that back into my wrangling duties by ensuring high priority shots were rendering as efficiently as possible. I also gained experience in editing packages when I helped the editing team cut sequences and audio into dailies.

Jan 2014 - Nov 2014

Render Wrangler

My responsibilities during my time at Animal Logic included monitoring the render farm and handling priorities across a number of projects. I worked in a team environment to come up with solutions to rendering problems, as well as working closely with different production teams to make sure deadlines were made. I also helped maintain farm scheduling scripts and kept documentation to make sure everyone's knowledge was on the same level and information was shared across our team. For the two years I was here, I gained a great amount of knowledge of the pipeline and the systems employed at the studio. I also learnt a lot about the tools used in different productions, and learnt how to handle different trouble shooting problems for renders and also on a scene basis. I furthered my knowledge of a Linux based system and started scripting tools to help me with my day to day schedule.
