Research Scientist IiMental Health Services Oversight & Accountability Commission Jun 2021 - PresentI lead evaluation work, policy research projects, and other efforts related to collecting and synthesizing information with the ultimate goal of furthering transformational change in the mental health system of California. My work evaluating the Innovation Incubator initiative revealed the importance of collaboration, setting expectations, carving out dedicated time and resources, and having a mechanism for elevating and disseminating best practices and lessons learned. My work leading the Impacts of Firearm Violence project is underscoring the great need for multi-disciplinary and cross-sector collaboration in solving broad, cultural problems. Findings are also highlighting the value of looking upstream, focusing on the prevention and early intervention of mental health challenges before they develop into a diagnosis or a negative outcome. My continuing work is shaped by these insights, leading me to intentionally build connections, use active listening, foster meaningful community engagement, and critically examining the assumptions upon which our current systems and structures are built. -
