As a queer feminist librarian, I aim to reclaim libraries as community-driven platforms for marginalized communities to come together, share resources, and thrive both as a collective and as individuals. Inspired by R. David Lankes’ manifesto (and atlas) of “New Librarianship,'' I view libraries as far beyond mere collections of printed materials, in either physical or digital formats. To invoke Lankes, “New [L]ibrarians approach their work as facilitators of conversation…[we] seek to enrich, capture, store, and disseminate the conversations of [our] communities'' (2). In essence, we as librarians can contribute to local, grassroots social justice initiatives through strategic outreach and programming as well as intentional community-centered services which shatter the dangerous and longstanding (mis)perception that libraries are neutral spaces.

Circulation AssistantWindham Public Library Nov 2022 - PresentWindham, Maine, United StatesFor 20 hours/week I work at the circulation desk at the Windham Public Library, connecting patrons with their next great read, checking in and out materials, preparing outgoing interlibrary loans and receiving incoming ones, and co-designing library displays with a fellow circulation assistant. -
Associate Librarian For Ensembles And Performing RightsSt. Olaf College Aug 2016 - Sep 2022Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaI managed the robust choral and instrumental (band and orchestra) libraries at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. I supervised 10-12 student assistants each year; overseeing their work preparing music for rehearsals and concerts as well as maintaining the physical library materials (repairs, re-shelving, etc.) In collaboration with the St. Olaf IT department I developed a custom performance library database and catalog which has improved the visibility and access of the St. Olaf ensemble library collections for faculty and students alike. In addition to these daily responsibilities, I regularly handled licensing for the college's music performances and recordings and recently completed a virtual archival exhibition in celebration of the Centennial (in 2020) of the St. Olaf Choir's inaugural East Coast tour (see the link below). -
Interim Liaison For MusicUniversity Of Virginia Music Library Jan 2016 - Jul 2016Beginning in January 2016 I expanded my original role as student employee in U.Va.’s Music Library to 20 hours/week, working as liaison between the university libraries and the music department. In this role I continued organizing performances and events for the “Making Noise” series developed by my predecessor; a series that showcases student research and compositions as well as the work of visiting artists. (See the link below). In addition to this project, I completed a summer music (sheet music) cataloging internship with the music cataloger at U.Va., familiarizing myself with cataloging rules and systems ranging from AACR2 to RDA Toolkit. On a daily basis, I made myself available to faculty and students; helping the U.Va. library system respond to their research and performance needs. I was also responsible for maintaining and updating the Music Library LibGuides as well as handling donor relations. -
Student SupervisorUniversity Of Virginia Music Library Aug 2014 - Dec 2015Charlottesville, VaIn addition to supervising new student hires, answering reference questions, and providing materials for patrons, I worked as Music Librarian, Matthew Vest’s, unofficial research assistant since my employment with the library began in August 2014. My projects included developing his “Free Online Music Resources” database (see the link below) making online sheet music collections to music blogs and journals available for scholarly use. I have also organized and prepared for the cataloging of various donations (including a large donation of mostly rare nineteenth and twentieth-century German opera libretti from a local musician). -
Graduate Teaching Assistant (Music)University Of Virginia Aug 2010 - Dec 2015Charlottesville, VaMy experiences teaching undergraduates at U.Va. have enabled me to develop my leadership and management skills, by planning and implementing lessons as well as conceiving of the scope of entire semester-long classes by preparing course syllabi. Through my interactions with students I have encouraged them to think critically about music and its societal impact while maintaining their passion for this vibrant art form. I have served as both instructor and teaching assistant for a variety of courses ranging from "Basic Musical Skills" (a non-major introductory music theory and appreciation course) to "Popular Musics" and "Opera."
