Vulcan is the family office of Paul Allen, Microsoft's co-founder.* Led Vulcan Impact Investing, investing in companies working to solve some of the world's biggest challenges such as ocean health, wildlife conservation, and climate change. Investments focused on early stage start-ups in clean technology in sub-Saharan Africa, alternative protein sources, and alternative nuclear.* Managed, in collaboration with Steamaco, portfolio of 10 solar mini grids in rural Kenya. Authored series of white papers to share data about the mini grids in order to catalyze further investment in and operations of mini grids in Africa. See www.minigrids.vulcan.com. Conducted research on estimations of demand, in collaboration with Seattle University.* Prepared mini-grid portfolio for acquisition. An independent consultant focused on sustainable finance policies, programs, and strategies for companies and governments, with a particular focus on sub-Saharan Africa. • Designed a $65 million program for facilitating finance for private sector solar rural electrification ventures • Ensured Green Climate Fund readiness through assisting a National Implementing Entity to meet fiduciary requirements • Wrote national climate finance readiness plans and policies • Designed a national sustainable charcoal value chain program • Developed a sustainability and climate resilience tool for the agriculture sector

• Designed first-of-its-kind $50 million results based financing program to promote private sector renewable energy development in developing countries• Managed a team of local staff charged with the monitoring of a $9 million multi-country project to promote sustainable enterprises • Served as Deputy Operations Officer of an innovative socially responsible water filter and improved cookstove company, managing operations and a team of 10+ staff • Conceptualized and established a program which has resulted in over 40,000 people using efficient cookstoves in Rwanda

EcoSecurities was the creator of the first certified carbon credit. It was acquired by JP Morgan in 2009.• Managed the carbon finance aspects of a portfolio of energy projects including a 650 MW fuel switching (heavy fuel oil to natural gas) project in Jordan, 3 MW biogas digester in Thailand, 95 tons/hour biomass residues facility in Brazil, 5 MW hydropower plant in Panama• Served as a senior member of the quality assurance team reviewing all projects in the company• Established company –wide procedural manuals to streamline activities• Developed tools for greenhouse gas emission accounting and financial analyses • Designed and gave a two-week training course for new employeesEcoSecurities was acquired by JP Morgan

• Led UK private sector trade missions which resulted in significant investment of UK sterling in China, East Africa and Ukraine• Advised the UK government on facilitating the involvement of private sector in government led climate schemes• Provided technical advice to the private sector and the public on how to develop carbon market projects and programmes

• Researched climate change impacts and adaptations and related activities in the UK • Assisted in the development of one of the first national adaptation policies• Contributed to early leader publications assessing how business can prepare for climate impacts
