Provide executive level guidance for the city’s non-profit Destination Marketing Organization and Sports Commission, Sports Minneapolis, with direct responsibility for the marketing, public relations, partnership/sponsorship and visitor information center departments. Support two board subcommittees of key partners focusing on marketing and diversity and inclusion.Overhauled department strategic direction, operating priorities, programs, personnel and morale on a compressed timeline. Deliverables included a refreshed strategic brand including visual and tonal identity and a top-to-bottom redevelopment of online presence, including website, in a 9-month time frame. Proactively developed the organization’s first diversity and inclusion marketing plan, implementing measurable, concrete programs determined with input from board stakeholders.Adjusted communications strategy from reactive to proactive, prioritizing Minneapolis’ place on national “Best Of” lists, resulting in multiple direct and indirect successes includingCondé Nast Traveler’s “Best Places to Travel” for 2018 and more than 2 billion media impressions in 2017.Secured additional assets to expand private revenue opportunities and realign programs to the benefit of the partner and organization. Assisted with the creation of a new program, the Minnesota Sports Awards, which helped to secure a record level of private revenue in 2017, exceeding $3.2 million across the organization.
