NEWS FLASH:Video is what you see on TV news, but the anchor or reporter's voice is what adds texture to the images.In broadcasting, and in the voice-acting business that's called "Voiceover" (also voice-over, and voice over).When the video is over on your fave TV news program you will notice that the anchor/reporter also has the chops to be engaging on-camera, and all the baggage that goes with it (clothes, make-up, smile, demeanor, presence, body language, attitude, facial expressions). But when you think about it... the voiceover actually is more demanding, because you don't have the HELP of all those human accoutrements to aid you...just the nuance, pitch, tone, attitude, pacing, emotion, feeling, and thoughtfulness of the voice only.This what makes the human voice such an essential part of news segments, promo's, radio imaging, audiobooks, corporate presentations, live conference soundtracks, eLearning, slide presentations, explainer videos, radio commercials, museum tour soundtracks, cartoons, video games, and on and on and on.Since I've spent decades in the tandem worlds of on-camera broadcast news as an anchor and reporter, while pursuing the freelance world of only voice-acting, I grasp the demands of these mediums like few others.Am I a master? Nope...no one is. But I so enjoy the journey!My most important achievement? Being a father to three lovely daughters, and a husband to my first and only wife of 38 years.Along the way there've been Emmys and that's fine...but the community involvement of my nearly 30+ years in Las Vegas is what I enjoy the most. I've profiled more than 1600 adoptable foster children since 1982 in my weekly "Wednesday's Child" reports for Las Vegas Now News. I was 2015 honoree of Boys Town's Journey of Hope in Las Vegas and I've served on the boards of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and The National CASA Association.
