About David Cowie

With over 30 years experience in presenting wide-ranging subjects to audiences of varying sizes and structures, I am now utilising my experience to train and coach others in developing their own presentation skills. Individuals may just be entering into the world of work and business, or already be there, but are new to, or apprehensive of, the presenting requirements of their role.I have witnessed first-hand how debilitating for some people having to stand and speak can be. Many struggle through what appears at first glance to be a very simple task, but one that can be fraught with unseen complexities and fears. I was trained from an early age in public speaking by Mary Pearson MBE, of the Weir school of Speech and Drama, progressing through the various City & Guilds examinations and grades in spoken English. My main career focused on telecommunications; eventually in a more senior role in central Government programme management in Whitehall. Over the years I designed and delivered presentations to and for Lords of the Realm, Cabinet Ministers, Ministers, Chief Executives and leading figures in various UK based industries, as well as key stakeholders, managers, staff, colleagues, customers and members of the public on wide-ranging subjects. I specialise in communicating complex change initiatives and have worked with various consultancy firms such as IBM, Logica CMG and industry bodies such as the Institute of Directors.
