Responsible for the technical aspects of merging COMPAQ’s North American and European pricing systems. Spent time in Munich laying out the implementation path for the system with European counterparts, and developed a merged SQL Server database schema. Acted as the technical lead and lead developer for migration of the legacy application functionality from a PowerBuilder client based system to DHTML and ASP, significantly reducing maintenance overhead while increasing the distribution availability of the system.

Responsible for the design and implementation of a GUI toolkit that allowed non-engineer SMEs to develop applications for the company’s medical information systems. An ORACLE database was used to house the GUI interface definitions, the links between GUI elements and library functions, and the actual medical data. The toolkit was extended to become a deliverable product and helped discriminate the CHC product line within the market. Participated in establishing a new branch office in Atlanta and was responsible for all engineering aspects including engineer hiring and tasking, product development, and IT services.

Developed a data driven GUI for an optical character recognition mail sorting system. The GUI was written in DECWindows (DEC version of X Windows) and used an XML like description format to define the user forms, controls, and associated callbacks. Developed a hashing algorithm module to optimize element lookups – the module was adopted for use in the real-time machine control as well as other areas.
