Selected to teach Bowman communications suite to the British Army as part of a multi million pound project. Specialised in HF communications (Harris Radios) but still able to teach all other equipment and data comms to a high standard.

Early career deployed worldwide using many different communications systems. High lights include deploying to Iraq as the Corporal in charge of Divisional Headquarters, selection for 6 month secondment to the British Antarctic Survey Team, manning help desk in Oman, detachment commander in Norway and Greece, Physical Training Instructor in Cyprus, ski instructor in Norway, detachment commander in Bosnia.
