Imagion Biosystems develops medical device platforms utilizing Superparamagnetic Relaxometry (SMPR) for the highly sensitive detection of iron oxide nanoparticles. These specialized particles, when linked to antibodies, enable the early detection of specific types of cancer. As Operations Manager, I was responsible for the manufacturing and deployment of the medical device hardware systems. Primary responsibilities included R&D, defining system design requirements, developing hardware systems to meet those requirements, then building, testing, and integrating those systems into the overall system platform. VeraLight developed the first noninvasive optical skin screening technology, the SCOUT DS, to replace conventional blood-based screening methods for type 2 and pre-diabetes. As a key member of the Manufacturing/Engineering team, my primary responsibilities initially included identifying the necessary facilities, tooling, and assembly process requirements to begin manufacturing prototypes from the initial proof-of-concept device. After manufacturing began, my responsibilities expanded to include building, testing, and validating two prototype production builds, and ultimately the commercial ready version of the device, the SCOUT DS. Worked with a talented group of Mechanical Engineers to develop a novel 300mm silicon wafer automation system for the APNext Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (APCVD) project. Designed and built an automated test bay using AutoCAD 12 for the thermal characterization and validation of new ceramic thermal chuck designs.
