As a staff attorney for the New Mexico Legislature, I consult with a wide array of stakeholders and legislators to write effective and constitutionally sound bills, laws and statutes. During the interim, I plan, arrange, execute and staff meetings for the Legislative Health and Human Services Committee, the Behavioral Health Subcommittee and the Disabilties Subcommittee. During the legislative session, I research and write bills for introduction and consideration by the New Mexico House of Representatives and the Senate and I answer technical legal questions about those bills. I also perform legal research and write memoranda and analysis of proposed and existing statutes while taking into consideration how other states have worked to solve the problem at hand.
