Hi, I'm Chris! I'm a Marketing Manager at Many Worlds Tavern, an e-commerce coffee company that makes "Coffee for Game Night".How'd I end up there? When the COVID pandemic hit in 2020, I was the Marketing Manager at Boomtown Coffee out of Houston, TX. We were forced to close one of our coffee shops, and it was clear that it was time for us to try something new.After months of research and planning, Many Worlds Tavern was created as a sister company to share our love of specialty coffee to a new community—one that we were a part of and loved in our personal (nerdy) lives: tabletop gaming.We realized that a great board game or Dungeons & Dragons session brought us together with friends and family like nothing else. Those moments deserve an amazing cup of coffee to go with them, and we were going to be the ones to provide it.We created a brand that respected both game night and coffee. We source extremely high-quality coffees from ethical, transparent producers, share them by partnering with influencers and content creators in the gaming space, and donate $1 per bag to gaming-related nonprofits. We knew that if we were going to build a brand like Many Worlds, we had to do it from a place of authenticity, reverence, and with a great product—or risk being a gimmick at best and dishonest at worst.As an in-house marketing manager, I have experience with branding, marketing strategy, web design, SEO, content production (including video, photography, and blog writing), social media, and packaging design.I regularly interact with influencers to coordinate ad reads, brainstorm collaborations, and send samples of our newest offerings. I have set up booths at conventions like BGGCon to brew coffee samples, explain the brand quickly and effectively, and make direct sales to con-goers. I also lend my coffee experience by helping our team grade green coffee samples and develop drink recipes. Many Worlds Tavern challenges me with constant learning, experimentation, and execution.Previously, I worked at A 2nd Cup (Houston's nonprofit coffee shop fighting human trafficking). I fell in love with the combination of coffee and nonprofit work, learning the nuances of nonprofit social media, training volunteers, and working with survivors of human trafficking. My favorite contribution was the "Split Shot", an ongoing monthly program where the baristas created a signature beverage with half of the sales going to a featured anti-trafficking partner.
