Environmental Compliance Specialist
Current-Collects environmental samples for analysis of water quality parameters in accordance with established methods and procedures. Data from samples collected is used to assess water quality, develop quality standards and TMDLs for permits, support enforcement actions, and protect the water supplies of the state of Georgia.-Calibrates and uses YSI PRODSS and Hydrolab MS5 sonde to collect field measurements at all sample locations. Field measurements collected include: dissolved oxygen (%LDO and mg/L), conductivity, air and water temperature, pH, turbidity, tapedown, and depth. -Maintains field data collection sheets and accurately enters and/or transfers all data collected into template in Excel. Reviews field data entry for others to ensure accuracy of data entry.-Measures and calculates stream discharge and flow velocity.-Assists in biological monitoring surveys of macroinvertebrates, periphyton, and zooplankton.-Maintains stock of sampling supplies, sample bottles/vials, coolers, and other consumable items to ensure sampling timeframes are maintained. Creates and submits orders for supplies in a timely manner to ensure no sampling delays and maintain an adequate supply stock.-Reviews analyzed sample data exported from the EPD Laboratory for accuracy of sample log in. Data is review to ensure sample type, location, collector, collection time and date, and project are correct for each sample collected.
