DevAcademy is a fully-immersive, 15-week boot camp, that teaches you how to think and work like a programmer. After initially being introduced to the modern technologies needed for full stack web development, by the end of the programme we were building applications and prototypes – both independently and as part of teams.To prepare for being a full stack developer, we were given opportunities to work on group projects, use industry tools, facilitate simple agile processes, and deliver regular presentations – including a final, week-long group project that we presented to a non-technical audience.Overall, the course involved over 800 hours of coding, and included HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, SQL databases, REST-ful APIs, React, Redux, Deployment, Version Control with GIT, Agile Development and Pair-programming. There was a strong emphasis on testing the different parts of the stack, which was done using Jest, SuperTest, Nock and Testing Library.The programme also included a Human Skills component, and provided plenty of opportunities to learn about and practice applying soft-skills, such as giving and receiving feedback, planning for difficult conversations, active listening and conflict resolution.

This was a contract project role within the bank's London based FX Operations division and involved the development of a “Profit Attribution Analysis” tool (using an Access database), used for understanding and quantifying the components of changes in FX valuations.
