Inspect mainly residential properties for Ad Valorem (Tax) purposes. Job duties are comprised into an annual cycle and vary depending on the time of year due to MN Dept. of Revenue guidelines and state statutes. Valuations must meet the standards established by Minnesota Statutes and the Minnesota Department of Revenue. All property is appraised at actual market value. Job duties include: Determining the current classification/use of the property. Inform property owners of their estimated market value. Handle any appeals to value that property owners may have via the Local Board of Appeals process with the county board. Inspect the progress of all permit work to include new construction, additions, remodels. Conduct public meetings to discuss those values. Apply appropriate classification rates and compile taxable values for each taxing authority.
