Hello, and thank you for taking the time to be here reading about me….in the meantime, let me tell you my story. I left school in the mid 90’s, with a few Higher education and modules under my belt to make my way in the world. I have always believed in hard work and striving to build on what i have already achieved, a trait that was instilled in me from a young age. “You wont get anywhere in life unless you make the effort and journey to get there” my father used to say.On leaving school i immediately found employment with a small local electronics firm, euroscot electronics, building and providing components to supply to large tech companies, and after a couple of years it was time to move on to something new. Still young and keen to learn i joined computer telecom installations, a telecommunications firm working on the U.K’s quickly developing digital TV, Telephony and Broadband networks. Here i would travel the country installing & commissioning fibre hubs for use on the telewest, cable net, and NTL networks(later to become virgin media when they all merged together), after a few years, rather than locating and relocating around the UK i decided i wanted to be closer to home, so i joined Telewest communications unfortunately due to mandatory redundancies this wasn’t to last too long, however the silver linings of redundancy would provide me and lead me to where i am today. I quickly joined British Gas , at first within planning & dispatch where i managed engineers daily workloads according to the demand within a certain region. After a year i was accepted into and completed BG’s apprenticeship programme, where for 20 years thereafter i was a technical repair & heating engineer & taking part in the support and mentoring process of bringing through new recruits and apprentices.Eventually i was offered a new challenge, to join BG’s Net Zero business unit, i was keen & excited to the accept a role of helping to decarbonise the UK from within BG and that is where i find myself today, learning all the time about heat pumps systems and how they benefit the home and the public, energy efficiency, low carbon homes, industry standards and legislation, renewable energy, carbon emission reduction etc.We are on the precipice of a greener revolution, with more and more people looking at alternative ways to heat their homes, drive their cars, electrify their homes and save on their energy bills whilst at the same time saving the planets, its an exciting time to be part of the solution as opposed to part of the problem.
