Staff Scientist IvNysdoh Wadsworth Center 2001 - 2008• Managed and carried out an independent research program focusing on the affects of low doses of ionizing radiation on living tissue through the study of fundamental electron scattering experiments (used for such applications as exposure to medical x-rays and other diagnostics). Coordinated efforts of collaborating teams from Pacific Northwest National Labs and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Designed and supervised construction of experimental equipment. • Secured a $1M FDA grant for food safety and security monitoring with respect to radiological health.• QA/QC Officer of the NYSDOH Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry Laboratories.• Developed low temperature (-80 °C) aerosol particle sizing instrumentation (used in such applications as atmospheric chemistry and material sciences).• Modeled experimental outcomes using Monte Carlo radiation and particle transport codes (used for such applications as the computer programs used to generate patient radiation treatment plans).• Developed and taught the “Dosimetry and Radiation Protection” section in the “Principles of Radiation Sciences” course at the University at Albany Graduate School of Public Health.
