I am currently a non-traditional graduate student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). I am a life-long commercial salmon fisherman, out of Bristol Bay, AK with 19 years of small business ownership/management experience. I am currently working on a research project looking at Indigenous food sovereignty and starting a graduate program in fisheries and rural development. My experience is still growing but the focus is/will be on continuing to build equity and representation in resource management.

Principal ConsultantSayak Consulting Llc Feb 2024 - PresentFairbanks, Alaska, United StatesConsulting work with Indigenous fisheries management, representation, and policy. I am getting my masters in Fisheries Management and Indigenous Fisheries Management through the University of Alaska Fairbanks Tamamta program. I am focused on attending, participating in federal and state fisheries policy making spaces regarding ensuring better representation, trust and fiduciary responsibilities. If your organization needs help with representation in academic or policy making spaces, I am happy to attend and do my best in arguing a positionality of why/how Indigenous knowledge needs to be leading the way in decision-making, setting the agenda, and our participation and understanding is best available science and information.
