I lead the AECOM team in New Zealand. That level of leadership means different things to different people – but as far as I’m concerned, the best elements all come down to people.Our multi-disciplinary team is of the highest calibre. Whether that means technical expertise, or project management acumen, or high performance in the support space, each person brings their own specific skill set to their role, and as Managing Director, I elicit the best possible performance from everyone.But it’s not just about our people, it’s about everyone. I love seeing the ways in which our projects have a tangible beneficial impact on communities – and we are able to bring in global capability to help clients solve their most complex challenges. I have been with AECOM since 1999, starting as a project manager and design engineer, then moving through the ranks and across the world. Some may see such a long relationship with one company as limiting – but on the contrary, I firmly believe that I would never have had the same level of diversity within my roles if I had jumped from company to company. With AECOM, I’ve had the chance to hone an incredible range of skills and attributes. I’ve had the opportunity to work across New Zealand, the United States and the Middle East. And now, I have the chance to shape the direction of the New Zealand business as we move into an ever-changing, innovation-fuelled future.
