Engineer
Current• Modeled engineering components and conducting finite element analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks or ANSYS software. • Wrote and won two Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant proposals that focused on developing new additive manufacturing (3D printing) techniques and materials, specifically using Inconel-718, Stainless Steel, Zircaloys, and Titanium. • Researched and tested carbon fiber (SiC) weaving techniques to improve material properties such as thermal swelling and brittleness.• Conducted design optimizing analyses of fluid control volumes and mechanical components, and prepared documents summarizing those analyses.• Designed mechanical structures and tools such as pressure vessels, nuclear core retaining structures, lifting rigs, and manufacturing-specific tooling.• Developed Monte-Carlo, mechanical, and fluid computational models of phenomena such as mechanical creep (thermal and irradiative), hydraulic piston effects, and statistical analysis of thermal-hydraulic and nuclear core environments on a CPU-cluster platform.• Generated official engineering documents that outline testing, analysis, and design for customers and regulatory guidelines.• Oversaw fabrication of self-designed mechanical structures.• Developed flow-meter systems to detect pressure drops in pneumatic-pistons.• Wrote software for image processing and laser scanning to detect defects and dimensions. • Supported companies such as B&W-mPower, Westinghouse, AREVA, Honda Power, and Canon while conducting the above tasks.
