I started out serving my community as a Boy Scout at a young age. Upon turning 16 I began to volunteer as a cadet firefighter and went on to become a full fire fighter until I was 19. At 19 I transitioned over into the realm of Law Enforcement. I started my career as a Correction's Officer for the Grant County Sheriff's Office. I then had an opportunity to work out on the street as an Animal Control Officer with the Ulysses Police Department. I worked as an ACO until the age of 21. Immediately after turning 21 I was offered the position as a Patrolman and I attended the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. I worked my way up from patrol to K-9 Handler to Corporal. This allowed me to work with surrounding agencies. I certified as a Field Training Officer and have personally supervised newly hired officers during the FTO process. In 2019 I transitioned back to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Sergeant. During my tenure as a Law Enforcement Officer I have had the opportunity to respond too and be a part of a wide variety of investigations, from minor traffic stops to death investigations. I have been able to speak with young children about my career, my K-9, etc. This allows me to be proactive in the community in a non enforcement aspect to help keep our agency engage with our citizens.
