Research Associate working for NewRail - a composite materials research and development company within the University.The role involved working on several industrial contracts. This included performing deflection tests on composite train station platforms, hand lay-up of concept CFRP bearings for marine applications, tensile and thermal expansion tests on GFRP specimens for oil and gas (offshore) applications. I also had the opportunity to design and utilise a test rig to perform creep tests at controlled temperatures on several polymer samples for quality control of manufactured pipes. www.ncl.ac.uk/newrail
