I started my Career at 17 as an Electrical Apprentice on a 2000MW coal fired power station located in Cottam. I completed my apprenticeship after 3 years and progressed onto ONC, HNC & HND in Electrical and Electronic engineering.I moved to Westburton coal fired Power station as a contractor for several years before securing a job with EDF Energy. I started within the days maintenance team before progressing onto shift maintenance on a 5 week rota of morning, afters and nights. Here I undertook additional training for COMPEX and to diversify into the C&I discipline along side my Electrical experience.With the downturn of Coal fired generation I supported the business within the nuclear and gas fleet supporting with statutory outages etc travelling country wide as required.I also had the opportunity to work for a competitor Drax Power and also gain experience within the biomass industry in 2019. Here I also supported routine and reactive maintenance activities as required.In 2021 I then joined EDF Renewables on a secondment basis as an electrical engineer supporting the business as required. I gained a full time position in November 2022 and have been working on Wind, Battery Storage and solar technologies. This has enabled me to gain knowledge and experience within these renewable power generation technologies and have been supporting the business as required.I am part of a small team interacting with our contract partners and holding them to account and ensuring compliance with our reactive and routine maintenance requirements. I work closely with the health and safety team carrying out safety walk downs and audits on our portfolio of assets. I am a field based engineer assisting with fault diagnosis and repair on both HV and LV systems. I enjoy interacting with the site teams and contract partners offering help and advice as requested with a hands on approach being on the 'coal face'.
