I have recently rejoined the NHS in a Technical Assurance/Advisory role to help several regional NHS organisations (covering Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire) on large, complicated technical and clinical network transformational/digitisation projects. Providing my experience and expertise on Cisco networking within Healthcare environments to improve patient care and help adopt technology for providing enhanced clinical services.

My role as the Enterprise Networks Solutions Architect and Practice Lead for a leading Cisco Gold Partner - Block Solutions involves leading on Cisco routing, switching, wireless and security technologies. This includes working with vendors, being aware of industry and market trends, designing and innovating technology solutions to solve customer challenges, and working within the teams to ensure the successful outcome of often cutting edge Cisco projects, such as Digital Network Architecture (DNA) implementations and large network transformational engagements.I enjoy helping customers across both healthcare and retail verticals to realise the benefits of digitisation by working with them to design and adopt new network technologies which transform organisational processes and operation. As the Solutions Architect, I typically perform the initial engagement with a customer to help ascertain and define the requirements, challenges and potential solutions. My approach is consultative to ensure the customer needs are correctly understood without proposing solutions without knowing the real issue. In addition, I also have responsibility to ensure targets are met and working with other teams within the business to help growth and profitability. This may involve working on large tender responses which cover multiple disciplines including full managed service requirements. I have recently focused on the design and strategy for delivering next-generation Cisco Core, LAN/WAN, Wireless and Cyber Security - including technologies such as Cisco FirePOWER, ISE, 802.11ac Wave 2 Wireless infrastructure and APIC-EM. However, within Enterprise Networks, I am required to have experience with all Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Wireless and Security solutions.

NETWORK:- Manage, design and support a large enterprise WAN of over 190 NHS sites across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Wiltshire - including point-to-point, MPLS and DMVPN technologies.- Technical lead for design and configuration for upgrading the LAN and WAN for 96 Oxfordshire GPs and implementation/support of over 500 Cisco Wireless Access Points including free Guest Wifi AccessWIRELESS:- Technical lead on designing and implementing a centralised Wireless LAN infrastructure for corporate/admin staff and clinical systems (Olympus Bloodtracking - http://www.theguardian.com/healthcare-network/2013/oct/25/national-blood-service-oxford-technology-innovation-award-runner-up). Grew from the initial 25 Cisco Wifi APs to the current 3,000 WiFi APs today.- Migrated from 8 x WISMs and WLC's to 5 x WISM2 DP hardware, and upgraded from Cisco WCS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure.- Designed and implemented solution for hosting BT Openzone (now BTWiFi) across all our Wireless Infrastructure to provide public/patient internet access across NHS sites. We were one of the first NHS Trusts to offer this kind of solution,- Designed and configured solution to host Oxford University and Oxfordshire County Council SSIDs across the our NHS sites, including the globally used Eduroam (https://community.ja.net/system/files/515/OHIS%20Wireless%20for%20Ox%20Uni%20%28edited%29.pdf). DATACENTRE: - Designed, configured and implemented a new datacentre solution using Cisco Nexus 5672UP and 2248PQ switches, providing 10Gbps server connectivity and 80Gbps between 3 datacentres. FIREWALL:- Managed and supported Checkpoint Firewalls, and approx 25 Cisco ASA Firewalls- Migrated away from Checkpoint NGX and Bluecoat SG8100 Proxies to Cisco ASA 5555X with CX with Cisco Prime Security Manager and Cisco Security Manager.RFID:- Technical lead to design, implement and support RFID location tracking using Cisco Wireless/MSE and Aeroscout Mobileview system - with over 1000 tags in use.
