The focus of my practice is commercial and insolvency litigation. I am a litigator by training, but I am often involved in corporate restructuring and bankruptcy proceedings while maintaining a commercial litigation practice that focuses on commercial disputes. I act for a broad range of clients, including financial institutions, insolvency professionals (court appointed receivers, monitors and trustees in bankruptcy), private corporations, mortgagees, franchisors and insurers. I always strive to find the most economical way to get the best results for my clients. I am well versed in debtor-creditor issues. I authored the "Debtor-Creditor Law" chapter in Business Laws of Canada (2018 ed. - Thomson Reuters / West) and I am the author of several chapters in Creditors' Remedies in Ontario, 3rd Edition (LexisNexis) published in November 2013. I am currently working on an update of the "Receiverships" chapter in Canadian Forms & Precedents: Debtor/Creditor, 2nd ed. (LexisNexis) with my colleague, Eric Sherkin.I enjoy public speaking and I am often asked to speak on the subject of debtor/creditor disputes and insolvency issues for the Ontario Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada. In 2019 and for the past few years, I have chaired and presented at the Law Society of Upper Canada's program "Commercial Priorities for Real Estate and Business Lawyers". I am a former member of Toastmasters, an international public speaking organization. I am also a former member of the OBA Insolvency executive committee.
