I am a versatile engineer, having spent 30 years working in various disciplines in multiple industries. I started in Aerospace Tooling, before moving into the Structures and Airframe Development environment. From there I branched out into the Automotive and Rail industries before progressing into an Electrical Design Role. For the past 13 years I have concentrated on Systems Design. During my career I have been involved in a majority of the tasks encompassing the Life Cycle of a product. From requirements capture and documentation authoring through to the preliminary design, including Verification and Validation of first articles through to both production and in-service support phases; and finally onto continued development activities for products already in service. I also have experience on the Program, Project and Commercial side of the business having worked on several bid teams tendering for new work packages, and where successful carrying this through to the contractual Statement of Work, Delivery Plans, WBS/OBS Breakdown,  Schedules etc. As a Principal Engineer I have a responsibility for engineering technical governance and adherence to the Quality Management System, ensuring projects are carried out using the relevant company processes. I am currently seconded to a major Train Operating Company (TOC) with responsibilities to manage the Safety & Assurance compliance for the introduction of new rolling stock. I have completed a course in CSM-REA (Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment) and manage safety and assurance activities on several rail projects through their development phase leading to entry into passenger service. This role involves leading workshops, managing and closing out the hazards identified. I also manage the Engineering Change activities compiling files for the change submission such as the Technical, Compatibility, Safety Validation & Operational Readiness files. The role requires me to engage with various engineering suppliers, as well as lead correspondence with the ORR, RSSB and Network Rail where needed
