Happily retired. Grateful to have learned and done more than I ever expected. In the later part of my career filled the top operations leadership position with responsibility for most departments internationally. This allowed me quickly apply a life time of lessons only to discover many more lessons to be learned. The greatest lessons of life and career were no matter how perfect we think we think our direction, process, policy or practice is, there are always flaws and unintended consequences. The best thing we can do is take our best shot and then carefully listen to people to see where and how to improve or correct mistakes. Others key career and life lessons include the need to encourage people and be more helpful than critical; support people's efforts instead of just expect them to support your own; apologize for failing to support people or for unnecessarily adding to their burdens. Last but not least, continue to do it even when others don't. Always be honest, admit mistakes, and take responsibility to make things right. Thank you to everyone who supported me in doing things often never done before. The most valuable were those plans and activities that increased unity, self awareness, and brought out the best in us as people. Thank you to all who allowed me enjoy this rare opportunity and experience.
