CurrentEdinburgh Cine and Video Society is a charity, established in 1936, that supports independent film making, both digital and analogue, and promotes film appreciation.We offer a creative space for film enthusiasts to learn and showcase their skills. Our community is made up of people of various levels of experience and backgrounds, all sharing a passion for film making. We organise workshops, screenings (we have our own cinema) and events that bring together like-minded individuals and inspire creativity.Our film making workshops are designed to cater to filmmakers of all levels of experience. From basic camera and lighting techniques to advanced post-production and editing, our workshops cover a range of topics. Members share their knowledge and experience, take part in training and discussion and look to develop new skills and knowledge.We organise regular screenings of classic and contemporary films, as well as special events such as Q&A sessions with film directors, film festival organisers, and more. These events provide a platform for our members to come together and learn more about theart of cinema.Our film maker resources include access to cameras, lighting, and sound equipment, as well as an editing suite and post-production facilities. Members can network with other film makers, scriptwriters, light and sound engineers etc., collaborate and share ideas.For over 85 years, Edinburgh Cine and Video Society has been dedicated to supporting amateur film making and promoting film appreciation.Our membership is passionate about film and committed to helping new and emerging filmmakers develop their skills and reach their full potential.
