• Managing a team of 5 engineers of varying disciplines to deliver upgrades to the UK military fixed Airfield systems under Project Marshall. • Bespoke system design for 60+ sites ensuring all customer and stakeholder requirements are met.• Guiding system design through engineering lifecycle ensuring correct maturity for each stage – SFR, PDR, CDR etc • Over-seeing and signing off on formal testing, commissioning and V&V activities with a heavy focus on professionalism in the face of the customer.

Main Duties Included – • In depth repair, maintenance and calibration of sensitive in sea electrical equipment including GPS receivers, radio transceivers and sensory systems used to monitor depth, speed and direction of movement. Sometimes having to fault find down to circuit board and component level to ensure the equipment is brought back into service quickly so as to minimise downtime.• Installation and commissioning of offshore electrical systems ensuring all standards are met and that equipment is fit for purpose.• Replacement of mechanical motors or components contained within when out of service. Motors were used to aid with in sea positioning of equipment.• Maintaining data bus links between onboard control systems and in sea equipment using fibre optic, and copper mediums. Ensuring both AC and DC HV power supply lines were maintained and repaired to ensure operation.• Maintaining a constant daily watch over all systems used and reacting quickly to problems that arise, constantly adjusting all in sea equipment to compensate forever changing conditions and identifying any faults as soon as they arise.• Tasked with the training and mentoring of all new crew members within the department. Ensuring all become quickly familiar with all systems used onboard. Supervising new crew as they work through approved company guidelines to enable them to carry out their role unsupervised once trained and signed off by myself.• Keeping full daily logs of all occurrences.• Highly recommended for promotion to management in last appraisal (available on request)• The sole person responsible for all on board satellite communication systems, IT networks and Telephone Exchanges.• Responsible for inventory of all department stocks, including sending equipment to manufacturers for repair and ordering of new spares.• Experience of working outdoors in harsh conditions, from below freezing arctic conditions to hot tropical environments both at day and night.
